I know both the highs and lows of navigating the RPS Special Education System.

I would strive to ensure the agreements in IEP and 504 plans are adhered to in order to provide each child with the best opportunity for success.

SPED parents deserve to know at least one member of the school board will have their best interests front and center.

Pragmatic Data Driven Choices

While many candidates will tell you they make their decisions on facts and figures, I have been in the classroom teaching these skill sets to Rochester students for over a decade.

I have graduate degrees in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Iowa which allows me to bring a level of quantitative expertise and analysis to every decision faced by the board.

College and Workforce Readiness

I have spent over 15 years working with Rochester Public Schools PSEO students and district graduates and I know the challenges they face getting ready to participate in an increasingly complex world.

I am a member of the workgroup that put together the Information Technology program for the P-Tech partnership between IBM, RPS, and RCTC and have taught students in the workforce pipeline this project has created.

I am been a long-time participant on the joint RCTC and Winona State Computer Science Advisory Board, working to better align classroom education with the needs of local employers like IBM and Mayo Clinic.

AI and Technology

I have spent the last several years pursuing additional graduate level education in Computer Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence through St. Cloud State University.

I know the difference between the “good AI” essential to our local industry such as medical imaging and prescription drug development and “bad AI” being used by students to offload their thinking and inadvertently robbing themselves of their education.

I can make the right decisions regarding the ethical and practical applications of developing technologies to better serve the changing needs of the workforce.
