I am a husband, father, and educator here in Rochester. I am also proud to say that I am the product of the American Public Education system and believe in the life changing power of a good education. My father was the first man in our family to earn a high school diploma, my mother was the first college graduate. My sister and I went on to earn graduate degrees from public universities and teach in them as well. I owe all my professional success to dedicated teachers, administrators, staff, and professors.

I am the parent of a Special Education student attending Century High School. I know the challenges faced by SPED parents navigating a difficult and underfunded system. I believe all the paraprofessionals, case managers, and special education teachers are doing their absolute best for these children, but somehow the whole is less than the sum of these parts and outcomes fall short of expectations.

I have been a MSCF union college level educator teaching Mathematics and Computer Science in the Minnstate system here in Rochester for over 15 years. Through this role, I have extensive experience in the tools and techniques for curriculum design, educational technology, assessment of student learning, and institutional effectiveness.
